Sigma Nu colony at Northern Illinois University is very involved in the local DeKalb community participating in volunteer opportunites with companies and organizations such as: Egyptian Theatre, Salvation Army, Red Cross of DeKalb, St. Jude Children's Hospital, etc. Sigma Nu also started its first annual philanthropy event last in the Spring '07 semester, a Powder Puff football tournament.

The first annual "Sigma Nu Powder Puff Football Tournament" took place on April 30th 2007 and raised four hundred dollars for the benefit of St. Jude Children's Hospital. Sigma Nu is looking to expand on its phianthropy event which is tentatively dated for April 27th, as well as create a philanthropy event for its next coming fall semester.
